UK Coaching Safeguarding & Protecting Children Online Classroom

Alternative delivery method will “maintain continuity of learning” during this period of uncertainty and disruption

In response to the exceptional circumstances we find ourselves in, UK Coaching has acted quickly to create a Virtual Classroom session out of our existing Safeguarding and Protecting Children (SPC) face to face workshop. 

We are doing this with full support from the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) and recognise that this is an interim development borne out of difficult times. 

Mark Gannon, CEO, UK Coaching, welcomed the launch of the online classroom:

UK Coaching is determined to maintain continuity of learning during this incredibly difficult period. We believe our virtual classroom will ensure that the learning and development of coaches will not be interrupted, so that, when life returns to normal, our workforce will be fully equipped to maintain a safe and fun environment for all our children and young people.

“We are delighted with the early success of the online classroom. The great teamwork within UK Coaching and our tutor team has driven the success of this new format of delivery over a very short period of time. Initial sessions delivered have proved to be very engaging for the learners, who have responded positively.

“In this isolating time, coaches can at least take advantage of some down time to focus on their own development, and we are only too pleased to help.”

Jude Toasland, Senior Consultant, Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) added:

“CPSU are clear that the optimal way to deliver safeguarding training is face to face in order to maximise learning, reflection and opportunities to interact with others. However, we are realistic that some are considering alternative delivery methods at this time. We are therefore pleased that UK Coaching are addressing the practicalities of providing training in these exceptional times through their virtual classroom arrangements.”
 

Each two-hour UK Coaching Virtual Classroom is being facilitated exclusively by a team of UK Coaching-accredited tutors experienced in delivering safeguarding workshops.
