Safety and Welfare

Improve your understanding of safeguarding, promote well-being and offer support through lifestyle transitions

To promote safety and welfare:

  • Keep up-to-date with good professional practice in relation to safeguarding. It’s also important to take the time to renew your training.
  • Develop an understanding of mental health and the barriers faced by those living with or recovering from a mental health problem. Can you offer helpful signposting?
  • Learn how to communicate safely and appropriately with the people at your sessions on social media. Used effectively, it can be a tool for faster, clearer communication, but it’s important to use it only to serve a purpose and to be aware of legal responsibilities.
  • Understand the leading role you can play in addressing and alleviating issues relating to eating disorders. What support can you offer?
  • Learn to design meaningful sessions for socially vulnerable young people. How do you create little moments of success, and what value do they have?
